Facial Plastic Surgery

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the cosmetic appearance of one’s nose. Rhinoplasty is often combined with a septoplasty to improve one’s breathing–and often helps with snoring, too!

The size and appearance of your nose are very important to the overall beauty of your face. A large or wide nose often takes away attention from your beautiful eyes and lips. Sometimes, a small change in the appearance of your nose can make very significant improvements in the way your facial features complement each other. There’s so much to gain from a perfectly sculpted nose …

Dr. Kay specializes in facial reconstructive surgery, and the nose is her forte! Whether you are looking to reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip, narrow your nostrils, or remove the dorsal “hump” you might see from the profile view, we have your answer.

Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty, which is commonly known as eyelid surgery, can rejuvenate puffy, sagging or tired-looking eyes by removing excess fat, skin, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient’s field of vision. Blepharoplasty can be combined with BOTOX® treatments to raise the eyebrows or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, crow’s feet or dark circles under the eyes.

This procedure is usually in one of our outpatient surgery centers. Incisions are made along the eyelids in inconspicuous places (in the creases of the upper lids, and just below the lashes on the lower lids). Dr. Kay will remove excess tissue through these incisions and then stitches them closed with fine sutures. In the case that no skin needs to be removed, Dr. Kay will likely perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty, where the incision is made inside the lower eyelid and there are no visible scars. Stitches are removed after three or four days, and patients can resume wearing contact lenses after a few weeks.

In time, gravity, sun exposure, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces: deep creases appear beside the mouth, the jaw line slackens, and folds and fat deposits appear on the neck. Facelifts counteract these problems by removing fat and tightening skin and muscles, giving your face a fresher, youthful look. After surgery, some patients appear 10-15 years younger.

This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in one of our outpatient surgery centers. Dr. Kay lifts the skin, removes fat, tightens muscles, trims excess skin and then stitches the incisions closed. While a facelift is a fairly major procedure, we take great care of our patients and help them achieve the least amount of discomfort and pain.

A facelift can be combined with a browlift, eyelid surgery or nasal reshaping for more dramatic results, or it can be restricted to the neck (neck lift) if that is the primary concern for the patient. Incisions are made in very inconspicuous places, such as behind the hairline and in natural folds of the face and ears, and scars fade to near invisibility in time. Results of a facelift do not last forever but allow patients to continue to look younger than they would without surgery for quite some time after.

Neck Lift Lower Rhytidectomy

A neck lift is a procedure that improves signs of aging in the neck. A youthful, graceful neck is a sign of beauty! As we age, skin begins to sag and become loose. An easy surgery can be performed to tighten the area! Neck lifts can treat excess skin that creates jowls, removes excess fat around the chin, tightens loose neck skin, and treats muscle bands that create contours.

Neck lift surgery provides results that last for years, and help patients look and feel younger and refreshed!

Chin Implant

In addition to injectable chin filler, Dr. Kay performs chin implant surgery. Implants are specially formed solid materials that are safe and compatible to be integrated into the human body.

From the American Society of Plastic Surgeons:

“Chin implants can increase the size and projection of a chin that is not in proportion with the forehead and mid-face. A small or recessed chin can also be described as one that seems to disappear into the neck of an individual of normal weight, rather than appearing as a distinct facial feature.

Neck Liposuction

Liposuction is a popular cosmetic procedure that is used to remove excess fat from the body. Liposuction, or “lipo”, can be performed in many areas on the body. At the moment, Dr. Kay only offers liposuction for the neck.

Liposuction surgery involves anesthesia of the submental (neck) area. The fat is loosed using controlled back and forth motions with a needle, then the fat is removed through a vacuum. There is some post-procedure swelling, but 80% of the swelling has subsided after 2 weeks.

Otoplasty, or “ear pinning”, is a procedure to correct or reshape the physical structure of the ear. It is generally performed to set prominent ears closer to the head or to reduce the size of large ears. This procedure is generally done in an outpatient surgery center, and our patients usually report a mild pain in the hears for a short time after.
