My Bedtime Routine Essentials

MY NAME IS DR. KAY AND I'M A PHYSICIAN AND FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON BASED IN LA. I LOVE HELPING PEOPLE LOOK AND FEEL THEIR BEST! CHECK OUT MY INSTAGRAM @BEAUTYBYDRKAY TO SEE SOME OF MY WORK.

My nighttime rituals are my time for me to unwind from my stressful days in the office. I love taking a few minutes alone to relax and apply my beauty products! Some days are very extensive - including a bath, face mask, scrub, and more. But most nights are just the highlights of my favorite basic things to prepare my self for a night of beauty sleep.

Step 1 - Remove my makeup and wash my face

It scares me how many girls tell me that they sleep without taking their makeup on! This is such a terrible way to clog your pores and can lead to breakouts. Make sure to use a makeup wipe every night before bed if you wear makeup throughout the day.

A great face wash is essential to remove the dirt and grime that your face accumulates during the day. I always use my Glycolic Wash to help chemically exfoliate my skin and stimulate new cell growth. I also love pairing my face wash with a device to help drive it into my skin! I love the Zoe by QYKSonic - it has stiff silicone nubbins instead of brush bristles. I prefer this because the silicone doesn't collect bacteria the way that brushes do! The Zoe also helps stimulate circulation while I wash my face, which helps me feel clean and fresh.

Step 2 - Getting my glow

Acids are the perfect way to get that beautiful, glowy skin! Like I mentioned before, I love Glycolic acid in my face wash. I also love Hyaluronic Acid (Like my Hyaluronic Line Filler) to help achieve pump, dewey skin and Vitamin C (like my Brighten & Tighten Vitamin C Serum) to reduce dark spots and glow!

Step 3 - Successfully achieving beauty sleep

Here's a hack - using a silk pillowcase will change your life. It's great for your skin and your hair, and it feels amazing. I love this Zimasilk Silk Pillowcase! Another hack is you should try to avoid sleeping on your face as much as possible. The human head is heavy, so that means if you sleep on your face, you're putting pounds of pressure onto your delicate facial skin. This causes premature wrinkles and speeds up aging!
